Harry Potter/Daniel Radcliffe
Harry Potter has famous eyes for two reasons. First, his eyes are a central plot point in all the Harry Potter books. “You have your mother’s eyes,” is a remark you hear frequently in all the movies. In the books Harry’s eyes are written as green, but on screen Daniel Radcliffe’s eyes are blue. “No problem”, according to JK Rowling. The author says she didn’t care what color eyes the actor had as long as they matched the eye color of the actor playing Lily, Harry’s mother. The second reason for fame is that Harry of course wears those distinctive round glasses. Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t wear glasses but after seven books and eight films, it looks like he’s stuck with them! If you’re looking for Harry glasses, you want the “round” profile. Coastal.com has a few pairs I thought would fit the bill but not look costumy. Check out Lacoste 12235, and Joseph Marc 4058.
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton makes this list because while she steps out in blue eyes, her natural color is brown. Blue eyes blond hair are her brand. She’s rarely seen in public without blue color contacts. Whatever brand she uses does a good job because it’s hard to tell from photos at least that she’s wearing them. If you want the same look, but here’s some ideas to try.
Elizabeth Taylor
If you tried to think of a celebrity with violet eyes, Elizabeth Taylor would undoubtedly top the list. Since childhood, this actress has been famous for her stunning eyes, often described as so deep a blue, they looked violet.
Lady Gaga
What’s famous about Lady Gaga’s eyes? In reality, nothing. It was her Bad Romance video that started all the fuss. Her eyes in the video were computer enhanced to look huge, doll-like (and a bit creepy, to be honest). The look started a fan stampede to duplicate Gaga’s eyes using oversize contact lenses. Hence Gaga Contacts, or Circle Lenses. Typically, these lenses have a dark outer ring that gives the impression of bigger, cartoon-like eyes. Non-corrective contacts, like Circle Lenses, should be properly fitted by an eye care practitioner. Remember, all contacts are considered medical devices and should be worn under supervision of an eye doctor.
Kate Bosworth
This beautiful actress, star of the movies Blue Crush, Wonderland, and Superman Returns has different colored eyes, one hazel and one blue– a condition known as heterochromia iridum. Other famous folks with two color eyes? How about NHL captain of the Edmonton Oilers, Shawn Horcoff, and Alexander the Great! Heterochromia refers to differences in coloration caused by concentration and distribution of melanin in the iris.
Marty Feldman
This comedian and actor is may be recognizable by his bulging eyes, but made famous by the long string of movies and television appearances, including At Last the 1948 Show and Young Frankenstein. The condition of his eyes is a result of Graves’ Disease.
Sharbat Gula
Perhaps the most famous National Geographic photo in the world. Sharbat Gula, the Afghan girl with the haunting look, was photographed by Steve McCurry in 1985. After her image made the cover the magazine, her face became iconic. Sharbat now lives a traditional Muslim life in rural Afghanistan.
Who else do you think has beautiful, interesting or uniquely famous eyes?
